Genetic counselling referrals

Who this is for

• Strong family history of breast, ovarian, colorectal or prostate cancer
• Existing panel or exome results that have not been fully explained to you
• Suspected inherited cardiac conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or long QT syndrome
• Reproductive planning where a heritable condition is known in the family

What is included

• Three-generation pedigree constructed from the history you provide
• Review of existing genomic reports, including variants of uncertain significance
• Comment on whether testing criteria such as Manchester score or Amsterdam II criteria appear to be met
• Referral to a registered genetic counsellor in your jurisdiction

How the review runs

1. Step 01

   Family history intake

   You complete a structured family history questionnaire covering affected relatives, ages at diagnosis and ancestry.

2. Step 02

   Clinical review

   A specialist reviews the pedigree alongside any existing results and identifies whether formal genetic assessment is indicated.

3. Step 03

   Referral

   Where appropriate we provide a referral letter and signpost accredited services near you.

Not included

• Genetic testing itself, sample collection or laboratory analysis
• Predictive testing of relatives
• Interpretation of direct-to-consumer ancestry results as clinical findings
